2025-2026 annual appeal

The Cushing PTO enhances every student’s educational experience and strengthens our school community. Through fundraising and volunteer efforts, we fund classroom needs, enrichment programs, and schoolwide events that go beyond what the school budget can cover. These experiences inspire learning, build friendships, and create the strong sense of belonging that defines Cushing.

Our treasurers have combed through our nearly $60k budget to arrive at a per student spend. For each student at Cushing, we spend roughly $175 annually. The bulk of this money covers enrichment and field trips but another large piece of it reimburses teachers for classroom expenses like books and and supplies to improve the educational experience. During the year, the PTO also supports community assemblies, events like the Book Fair, the Pumpkin Stroll, Kindergarten orientation, the Anchors Up Basketball game, Fifth grade graduation, shirts for students, the talent show, a Cushing Cares fund, recess equipment, a Veteran’s Day lunch, Field Day - and teacher appreciation throughout the year. It all adds up and your support truly makes a difference. Together, we can ensure that every student at Cushing continues to learn, grow and thrive.

why do we need so much?

Behind the scenes, our PTO is busy fostering a robust and memorable programs and experiences our students and teachers love. Did you know that we support reimbursement of educational supplies and resources for up to $300 for each teacher in the school? We also provide field trips and transportation, educational assemblies and community building events, field day and replenishment of recess supplies and teacher and staff appreciation throughout the year.

As we plan ahead for our merger with Hatherly, we’re reexamining the way we fundraise. With this broader direct campaign, we are attempting to be mindful of your time by concentrating giving into one larger effort. Cushing families and friends have been so generous in the past and we hope we can count on your support as we wrap up these last two years as a school community.

how much should I give?

We have combed through budgets to arrive at our average annual spend per student of $175. We completely understand this level of support isn’t in everyone’s budget and we are grateful for donations of any amount. If, however, $175/student is in your budget, we would be so thankful for your generosity. The Annual Appeal represents our primary fundraiser for 2025-2026 and aims to cover the majority of our costs for this school year.

do you accept corporate matches?

Yes! Corporate matches are an easy way to make your contribution go as far as possible. Cushing School PTO is a 501 (c)3 corporation and can accept corporate matches for donations made to our annual appeal. Please contact your employer to discover whether they will match your donation. Can my friends and family donate too?

Absolutely. Our strong community is what makes us great. In years past, friends and family have donated generously to the Cushing School PTO and their continued support allows us to do amazing things for our teachers and students. We are so grateful.
